How to Choose the Best Digital Marketing Course in Pune — 7 Things Nobody Tells You
The questions every Pune student should ask before paying a single rupee for a digital marketing course — and the honest answers most institutes will not give you.
I’ve run a digital marketing institute in Pune for six years. In that time, I’ve spoken with hundreds of students who came to us after having a bad experience at another institute. The stories are remarkably consistent.
They paid ₹30,000–₹80,000. They sat through 3–4 months of lectures. They got a certificate. And then they couldn’t get a job because they’d never actually run a campaign.
The institutes weren’t necessarily lying. They just weren’t telling the whole truth.
Here are the 7 things nobody tells you — and the questions you should ask before enrolling anywhere in Pune.
There are 40+ digital marketing institutes in Pune. Most are not worth your money or time. These 7 criteria will help you separate the ones that actually get students placed from the ones that get students certificates.
1. Ask: Do Students Run Real Campaigns with Real Money?
This is the single most important question you can ask any digital marketing institute in Pune. Because there are exactly two types of training: training where you read about Google Ads, watch demos, and do mock exercises — and training where you actually log in to a Google Ads account with a real budget, set up a real campaign, track real conversions, and see real ROAS numbers.
One of those prepares you for a job. The other one does not.
Every interview at a Pune digital marketing agency or company will ask you to describe a campaign you ran. If your answer is “I did a simulation in class,” you’re going home without an offer.
If a course says “you’ll work on live projects” but the “projects” are social media accounts with zero followers or Google Ads accounts without a billing method attached, it’s not live. Real training means real money (even ₹500–₹1,000 on Google Ads) with tracked results you own.
Every Marketing Bots Academy student runs live Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns on real client accounts with real budgets. You get individual logins, set up conversion tracking, manage your own campaign, and build a portfolio of real ROAS and CPA data before you even start applying for jobs.
2. Ask: What Percentage of Students Get Placed Within 90 Days?
“100% placement assistance” is the most misleading phrase in Indian digital marketing education. Every institute says it. Here’s what it usually means: they have a WhatsApp group where job links are shared, and they’ll review your resume if you ask.
That’s assistance. It’s not placement.
What you need to ask is: What percentage of your graduating batch gets a job offer within 90 days of completing the course?
Ask for the number. If they can’t give you a specific percentage, the answer is probably not impressive.
Question 1: What % of last batch was placed within 90 days?
Why: “Placement assistance” is meaningless. 90-day placement rate is the actual metric. Anything below 70% is a red flag. MBA’s rate: 90%.
Question 2: What’s the average first salary of placed students?
Why: The average first offer tells you the quality of training. Below ₹3 LPA means students are landing intern-level roles. MBA graduates average ₹6–12 LPA first packages.
Question 3: Can I see 3 LinkedIn profiles of recent alumni?
Why: This is the most reliable validation. If alumni are at respected companies in real DM roles, the training works. If they’re “freelancers” with no clients listed or in completely unrelated roles, it doesn’t.
3. Ask: How Many Students Are in Each Batch?
Digital marketing training is practical. You need individual attention on campaign setup, tool access, strategy feedback, and personalised guidance on your portfolio. None of that happens when you’re one of 60 students in a lecture hall.
The best outcomes happen in small batches. Here’s the reality of batch sizes at Pune institutes:
| Batch Size | Individual Attention | Campaign Access | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8–12 students | High — trainer knows every student | Individual accounts | Ideal |
| 15–20 students | Moderate — manageable | Shared or individual | Acceptable |
| 25–35 students | Limited — generic guidance | Shared / demo accounts | Mediocre |
| 50+ students | Virtually none | Demo only | Avoid |
MBA caps every batch at 10–12 students. This is a deliberate decision. Smaller batches mean more time per student on live campaigns, more personalised feedback on resumes and portfolios, and better placement outcomes.
4. Ask: Does the Curriculum Include AI Tools — Not as a Bonus, But as Core Training?
In 2024, a digital marketing course could get away with offering an optional “AI tools module.” In 2026, if AI isn’t integrated throughout the entire curriculum, the course is already outdated.
Every Pune company hiring digital marketers in 2026 expects candidates to use AI tools as part of their workflow — not as a novelty, but as standard practice.
Here’s what an AI-integrated curriculum actually looks like:
- Content creation: ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper in every content module — not just mentioned but used for client deliverables
- SEO: Surfer SEO, Semrush AI features, AI Overview optimisation strategy
- Paid Ads: Google PMax AI campaigns, Meta Advantage+, AI creative testing
- Analytics: GA4 AI insights, Looker Studio dashboards, AI-powered anomaly detection
- Design: Canva AI, Adobe Firefly, AI image generation for ad creatives
- Automation: HubSpot, Zapier, AI-triggered email sequences
- A single “AI tools lecture” at the end of the course
- “We cover ChatGPT” (nothing else)
- No AI tool access included — students use free tiers only
MBA’s curriculum includes 50+ AI tools (worth ₹50,000+ in annual subscriptions) across every module. The AI Mastery Course runs parallel to all other modules, not as an add-on. By the time you graduate, AI-assisted workflows are your default approach — which is exactly what Pune employers are now screening for.
5. Ask: Who Are the Trainers and What Do They Do When They’re Not Teaching?
There’s a quiet problem in the Pune digital marketing training market. A lot of the people teaching digital marketing are professional trainers — not digital marketers.
They learned the subject, got certifications, practiced for a few years, and then pivoted to teaching. That was their last hands-on experience with a real campaign. Meanwhile, Google Ads changed its interface 3 times, Meta restructured its ad platform, and GA4 replaced Universal Analytics entirely.
They’re still teaching from 2022 knowledge. And they’re often excellent communicators, which masks the problem.
“Ask your trainer: what was the ROAS on the last campaign you managed personally? If they can’t tell you, they haven’t managed a campaign recently.”
What you want is a trainer who runs live campaigns for clients today. Someone who is solving real problems on real accounts this week. Those trainers teach differently — they share current tool updates, algorithm changes, and practical shortcuts that you’ll never find in any curriculum document.
Both of MBA’s co-founders — Vivek Vyavhare (6+ years) and Rohit Awale (4+ years) — are active digital marketing practitioners. They manage campaigns for brands alongside teaching. What they teach in class is what they did in a client account last week.
6. Ask: What is the Real Total Cost — Including Hidden Fees?
The advertised fee is rarely the total cost. Here’s what Pune institutes often don’t mention upfront:
₹2,000–₹5,000 “registration” charged separately from the main course fee. Often non-refundable.
Some institutes don’t include Google or Meta exam vouchers. You pay ₹500–₹2,000 per exam separately.
Course uses premium tools in class but you need your own subscription for assignments. ₹3,000–₹8,000/month extra.
Printed notes or recorded sessions charged separately. Should be part of the course fee.
“Premium placement package” sold at an extra cost after course completion. Resist this.
Once you’ve enrolled and paid, there’s no path back. Ask for the refund policy in writing before paying.
Always ask for an itemised total cost and a written refund policy before paying any amount. Get it in writing — an email confirmation is sufficient.
7. Ask: Can I Speak to 3 Alumni Before Enrolling?
Every institute will show you their best success stories. The LinkedIn posts, the photos from the orientation day, the testimonial video of the student who got placed at a well-known company. That’s marketing.
What matters is average outcomes, not exceptional ones.
Ask the institute to connect you with three recent alumni — ideally from the last two batches, across different profiles (not the same type of student). Then ask those alumni directly:
- Did you get placed? How long did it take from course completion?
- Were the trainers available for support during and after the course?
- Did the course match what was promised in the brochure?
- Would you enrol here again knowing what you know now?
- What’s one thing you wish you’d known before joining?
Any institute that refuses this request is telling you something important.
